I'm here off and on and I usually avoid chardmonster because I know they like to be inflammatory, but honestly they are usually more flamboyant or obvious than today. I thought it was just one of those random out-there opinions and thought it would be an interesting conversation (I am one of the anons that asked her to elaborate). I know that I'm pretty bad at understanding tone via text but things like this just make me want to not even try and just stop commenting all together. Which makes me sad.

What part of calling someone a rapefanboy while using phrases like problematic and sideye isn't flamboyant?

You failed. And I especially like how you are now blaming US for your failure. You've said some outlandish things in the past. How were we to surmise that THIS time you were being "flamboyant"?

This is why I dislike trolling so very much. I thought it was pretty clear that you were attempting some sort of parody. Because I'm regular enough here to be up on the current rhetoric against SJWs. So it was obvious to me.

But there were evidently people for whom it wasn't. And they attempted to have a good faith discussion. And they got caught in your troll net. And that's potentially a handful of people who won't bother to make the investment in having a conversation with somebody who seems to have a divergent opinion the next time. Because F!S is full of trolls, right? So why put the time and effort into getting into anything that looks like it might be controversial when there's a chance the person you're trying to converse with has no intention whatsoever of following through. Their aim is to hook you, and then try to make you angry or upset in n moves.

And as a one off, it wouldn't be a problem. And injokes from regulars that people miss who aren't regulars aren't a problem. Sarcastic humour, bitchiness and taking the piss aren't the problem. But the constant drip of bad faith arguments is just so incredibly bad mannered.

Not that I'll do anything about it besides bitch occasionally, and possibly gaffiate for a few months again if I get too fed up. But I get the feeling of late that other people are also of my opinion on how clever and entertaining trolling isn't.

Argh at my wall of text. To reiterate, I didn't mean to just aim this at you. Cause I'm aware that a lot of the stuff you get grief for isn't actually trolling. And you've gotten caught in quite a scrap here, which I hope hasn't harshed your own day too much either.

Agreed. And a big part of why I don't frequent here anymore. I check in now and then but rarely post. And I don't mean just chard, it's more a general trend that the comm seems to have come to, which I don't find fun or funny. And it's sad because for awhile I was coming and posting everyday and having so much fun and so many interesting discussions. But slowly there's been this change to this kind of trolling attitude and I just can't be bothered.

I'm hoping that over time we'll get new members or the trolls will get tired and move on and maybe I'll sign back in and join in. But for now I check in once a week or whatever and see if anything's changed and when I see threads like this I know it hasn't and I move on.

DA But you did mean to deceive. That's the whole point of trolling like you did. Deceiving and then laughing at them when people took your comments seriously.

I'm the same way. I am really bad at telling who is trolling and who just has different unpopular opinions. A lot of the secrets where people auto call troll I never would have guessed at. Which is why I'm 90% a lurker.
