Uh, they probably did. OP mentioned they were an "afterthought," not that it was entirely ignored. Whoa, the thirty-five-year-old had to take a backseat to the three-year-old? NO WAY.

IDK about you but "no one else at the get together being told it was my actual day of birth" is pretty clear to me. They were ignored. And that's rude. It doesn't take any effort to at least wish someone a happy birthday.
