Pretty sure most of the commenters don't read manga/watch anime regularly, otherwise there wouldn't be so many "omg I'm disgusted and every lolicon consumer is a pedophile"-reactions, because lolicon = child porn in their mind and they actually have no idea that lolicon is a completely different thing??

Like, I've read lolicon manga out of curiosity before and they're so unrealistic and the characters don't resemble real children at all (drawing style doesn't count because manga tends to takes a lot of liberties with drawing them in the correct age), that it's just incomprehensible to me how you can equate REAL children porn with this kind of stuff.

I'm not saying there aren't child molesters out there who read this stuff to wank off or whatever, and I'm not defending my ~favorite genre~, I just don't get all the reactions towards lolicon when it's obvious you have never read these things at all.

People can still be disgusted by the very idea of it even if the fictional children are nothing like real children. There is nothing wrong with finding the genre disgusting.

I read a ton of manga. I'd been okay with this one if it was being lolicon or Freudian stuff, but not trying to be both at the same time. I just hated the fact that it was touching on the Freudian stuff and preaching it, and then turning around and being all "banging your teacher/student in the end is awwwright!" that really annoyed me.

Yeah, lolicon always came across to me as more of a sort of age-play thing than anything else because the kids never actually act like real kids. They basically act like mini adults and in a lot of cases it's the kid who initiates things with the adult rather than the other way around.

I don't see how it's any weirder or grosser than people who dress up in schoolgirl outfits for sex and call their partner "daddy."

How so? I'd always heard that "lolicon" is a cutesy euphemism for "manga/anime that puts female children in sexual situations". The only difference is it's drawn/animated.
