Much as it would have been nice of them to give you a mention, you're 35. Have your own damn birthday party. Were these people there for you or the kid? This secret doesn't actually have much to go on in terms of context.

My brother and I were unfortunate enough to be born within two weeks of each other on the calendar year, even though I'm a couple of years older. I raised hell when I was a kid if my parents even hinted at the idea of a dual birthday party. Mom once bought a cake for my brother and said it was for me, too (no, that is explicitly how it went; she didn't want two cakes in the house if we hadn't finished one), and I was pissed. I was also like eight at the time. Well, shit, for that matter, every fucking birthday party was an exercise in torture because my mother made me invite everyone in my class to them, and I hated pretty much everybody. Kids are assholes and they were primarily assholes to me, back then. So.

I still don't like the idea of birthday parties. Parties in general are not my thing. It's been years since I've done anything special for my birthday.

But the point of all this is--you're an adult. You've got the freedom, mobility, and self-actualization to make what you want happen, so stop whining and do something about it.
