3) That's exactly what happened to me. I saw Serenity without seeing Firefly and didn't care Wash died. But then he did and I cried. So much.

11) Hahaha! I use to... And those old fics are still on FF.net, having not been updated in years. But I still get reviews going, 'UPDATE PLZ.'

13) I AGREE SO MUCH. After all of the setting up between them, she randomly goes to Yamato. Whore. >.< Taichi > Yamato. For serious.

13. Actually there was quite a bit of canon support for Sora and Yamato. I do agree that the relationship rather sprung out of nowhere in complete WTF fashion, but the first season sets up for them better than you'd think.

LOL for the character-bashing wank though. If she was a whore you'd have no reason to be upset because she'd be sexing Taichi anyway, duh.

It was the fist great canonical frustration of my fandom life. In a way I think I'll never get over it either and I too am 20 now.

It was mine, too; my feelings shifted the more I thought about it. I'm not out to convert anyone to Yamato/Sora. I just think it's stupid to call her a whore because the writers didn't make your OTP canon.

I'm not calling her a whore, neither am I trying to throw stones at the author, but... I still feel I've been sort of cheated. I mean. I was 12 at that time and, in the case there was any relationship canon at all, I trusted her to end up with Taichi. SHE DECEIVED ME LOL.

I have never noticed any Y/S hints at all... would you care to name any, plase? *too old to rewatch Digimon XD*

Re: whore-- that was in reference to the one I was initially replying to.

Re: hints for Y/S-- personality and experiences alike. For 01, Yamato was more introverted and cautious, thinking of the safety of the team and of its individual members. Each took a very protective role towards the other members, though in different ways. Yamato’s were in defense and safety, and admittedly more focused on Takeru but extending to everyone in the group. Sora was nurturing, taking a mother hen role and seeing that everyone was properly taken care of. They may not have talked as much as Taichi and Yamato or even Taichi and Sora, but look at how many things they can relate to each other on. They were the two that struggled the most with their crests. They were the two that went off on their own for a while and yet continued to come to the rescue of the others. They were the two that became trapped in that dark cave of negativity towards the end of the series. These are all major points of character development that they alone shared. Mimi may have held back from the group and Jou stayed with her, but that was out of her refusal to fight and then Jou’s desire to protect Mimi rather than an actual breaking from the group. The group had to press forward and leave Mimi and Jou behind. These shared experiences would make Sora and Yamato able to relate very well to each other, and that’s important because it creates a sense of understanding and empathy.

I think that Sora might have initially been more drawn to Taichi, but the second movie with Diaboramon might have been something of a turning point, where she realized that she really needed to look for someone more mature in a relationship. Taichi, sweetheart that he is, was not overly sensitive or intuitive, and by the time he matured to the point that he was ready and interested, Sora had already moved on. It was sad, I agree, but I think it was realistic, too, and I can understand why she might have done it.

Re: I though so - I said that just in case you assumed I'd seconded that.

Re: And here you were saying that you didn't want to bring anyone into the Yamato/Sora ship...

You're right. They indeed have a lot in common. And yes, in the long run Yamato is the one out of the two boys likely to match Sora best. You're drifting my love away from my childhood otp, don't you feel guilty?

This realistic touch about Yamato and Sora ending up together was one thing that astonished me back when I first saw 02. When you're 13 you only see what you want to see, and this distinct equivalence of their personalities in addition to the faraway-in-the-future feeling that marriage gives you when you're kids threw me off balance. The dull fact that the boy you're kissing now will not probably become your husband was too undeniably pronounced. (Because Sora and Taichi totally dated.)

I think that is what frustrated me the most, that I could see it happening in the characters' real lives.

Digimon 01 is the best, imo.

I wasn't trying to bring anyone else into the ship ^_^; You explicitly asked for what hints I saw. I answered the question.

I still love Taichi/Sora, I swear, and I can still remember how FURIOUS I was when they put her with Yamato. I wanted to strangle them all for the same reason you gave.

Joking. I mean, you were really vehement and convincing about your arguments. ^^;

Gosh. I srsly couldn't believe it when I first heard about them. (Yes, I was spoiled.) But well. I think threesome marriage isn't allowed yet, is it?

Re: 13.

[identity profile] pichi.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry if it came off as argumentative >.< I admit I copy/pasted from a debate I'd had with someone else who had been rather insulting and my mood from that time was probably reflected in my tone more than I realized. I didn't mean for that to be directed at you and I apologize if it came off that way. I have honest love and continue to ship Taichi and Sora together; I just like Yamato and Sora better now.

I'm not a huge fan of Taichi/Yamato though >.< But even without that I would still ship them as a threesome.

ORLY? I guess it went way over my head then because I saw little signs of a relationship in season one. One incident springs to mind, I think, but... Then again, its been forever since I saw it.

Haha, I was just kidding about calling her a whore. Oho, but... Touché, my friend. Touché.

When the show was airing I was Taiora all the way and was totally WTF, YOU BASTARDS at the writers when they put her with Yamato. Once I got over the shock and looked at it again, I saw a lot more basis for it than I had before. Not that there wasn't still a lot of hinting for Sora with Taichi, but I understood a lot better why they had gone with Yamato.

Eh. I very much remember their relationship coming out of NO where. I'm sure if I went back I could find stuff, but thena gain, you can read into anything, so I dunno how valid that is.

I have nothing against the pairing, I just still think it was weird.
