They are assumed to be straight most likely because they both have canon female lovers in their respective Final Fantasy game.

That seems like pretty clear cut proof to me.

Mm, sorry, not to me. Their FF canons most decidedly =/= their KH canons. We know that Leon at least has a completely different backstory, no mention of Rinoa at all, etc...

Ah. Lots of people don't seem them as the same and I guess they really aren't. But I guess it's assumed certain basics are the same.

Also, as an addendum, there's always the handy route of bisexuality... or even "straight but still in love with another guy". Both of which happen ::shrug::

Oh, I agree. Most of my roleplay characters end up being bisexual to make things canon and yet also not if that happens to come up.
