It's a pretty natural transition in meaning to go from a color that most people regard as boring and bland to using it as a descriptor of things that are themselves are boring and bland. It's not really a hipster thing. I don't know where that's coming from.

Okay, let me ask you this: have you ever heard someone over the age of thirty use the word "beige" in this sense? Because I haven't.

From what I've seen, people who use words like "beige" and "basic" tend to be the 16-20 age group on the internet who are trying to be "witty" and "cute."

well two points here: i feel like I have seen people over the age of 30 say that, although I can't prove it, and even if it weren't the case, i don't know if "kids on the internet trying to be funny" is the thing that hipster means now

I don't necessarily mind being grouped in with only a handful of fellow shippers who know each other. But at the same time I kind of hear you. It's never easy when you're looking for more variety than what the same five or six people are posting, no matter how talented those few people may be.

How can a ship be dubcon? Even if one of the characters is canonically underage, in a coma, an animal, or otherwise unable to give informed consent, that doesn't preclude fiction in which the character is aged up, comes out of the coma, and/or is transformed into a human.

Ships where it would have to be dubcon for the characters to do the do unless something like that happened. Or where the characters would never have happy sunshine fun timess enthusiastic consent sex because their canon dynamic has an element of coercion or unequal power balance.

I don't know, destiel is my first real hivemind experience and I hate that just by liking it I feel associated with the worst of the fandom. Haven't you seen the abuse they get here?
Not shipping dean/cas or stiles/derek is probably better for your piece of mind. There's a happy middle-ground somewhere.
