He's a reasonably funny person. I get the impression that he can really be kind of a dick sometimes, and he's definitely not an intellectual in the way his reputation would have it, but at the bottom of it, he's a pretty funny comedian, and you can't beat that with a stick.

Fry tweeted very disparagingly about his encounter with the brother at Christopher's funeral, then had to delete the tweet afterward. Peter Hitchens may be a Daily Mail asshole, but it might have been more tactful to show at least a little restraint after the guy buried his brother.

Well, he's very eloquent/verbose (which in my opinion, borders on purple prose) and intellectual. He's funny and he was quite a looker when he was younger. I'm not attracted or a fan of him but I sort of get where his fangirls are coming from.
