The original posters friend believes that animals are equivalent to humans.

That is the foundation for all the points except 'well animals are killed for a purpose, jewish people/all the other victims (nice erasure their tumbrite) aren't', which is both factually untrue - the Nazis had a purpose, it may have been monstrous but it was there (okay more complicated than that as I'm sure the historians here will feel free to point out, lets simplify for the time being) and even if we grant it as true, still isn't a meaningful distinction under most moral systems.

By that logic you could say a lot of serial killers had a "purpose", having an EXCUSE to do something evil and immoral is not the same thing as a purpose, geez

Well that entirely depends upon the whether they saw it as a means to an end, or an end in and of itself doesn't it.

Well in this case the only "purpose" I can think of besides sheer antisemitism, homophobia (no more gays to hold society down!) and racism (can't forget Roma people) is this misplaced notion that Jewish people somehow ran the economy into the ground by hoarding all the money or whatever stupid anti-banking turned antisemitic bullshit reason the Nazi party had
