Gym/Exercise Thread
Start back into my routine next monday, and seriously looking forward to it. That feeling after pushing yourself lifting after having not been in a while, where you can't put your shirt on the next morning is incredible.
Going to start with a nice basic bench/deadlifts/squats foundation for the first couple months.
Anyone else here do anything?
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
But day after day, i don't do anything. Arrgh. I wish i could afford a gym membership, because if i paid for it, i'd *go* - no way would i waste the money.
Good luck!
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
Running or body weight exercises an option? Not my favourite personally, but always an option when you're pushed for cash or access to machines/weights.
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
I can do stuff at home, i just have a huge hard time motivating myself. A few years ago when i was meeting a friend or my sis-in-law to exercise, it was easy, because i didn't want to not show up and let them down. But just me, in my house?
Easier to interwebz.

Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
I got to the gym a couple of times a week. Lifting heavy weights is a no-go (last time I did that I tore a shoulder muscle. That bitch hurt) so I don't go above five pounds. Then I jog/run on the treadmill for 20-30 minutes.
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
(Anonymous) 2013-06-15 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)Now that I've started I can't believe I spent so many years sitting on my ass. And I'm really noticing the changes in my body, even after only a month and a half! I'm not losing weight (which is good in my case, I don't need to), but my body is changing in a good way, and I've got my old flexibility back, and it's just generally awesome.
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
besides sex I like weightlifting and jogging
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
They're a great exercise and all, but you get too big or your levers too long and they're practically undoable. Even at my top fitness I would maybe manage a set of ten.
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
That said, lol, I get you - there's a reason even elite forces only require 6-10 pullups or chinups, but a metric fuckton of pushups/running/etc. Big guys just can't do 'em.
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
I've been running on and off the past few months, but with nicer weather here, I get to run outside for the first time (I've always stayed in the gym) which is a nice change. I still like the gym; they're just two different experiences.
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
I enjoy how it makes me look and how it makes me feel - I actually look forward to doing them.
Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
I'd really like to join a yoga/pilates/some sort of low impact stretchy type thing class because I have fibro (among other conditions), but I am such a social sissy that I am too afraid to go into a class alone. T^T
