Because generally we use the term "dudebro" because it makes out bigots to be like all those guys we don't/didn't like in college, what with the baseball hats and the american eagle shorts and the halo and the liking sports and the having social lives

Why are you assuming that I'm ignoring the fact that bigots come in all shapes? I'm talking about one specific type of person, not about bigotry in general.

Dudebro gamers, to me, are the stereotype fratboy sexist gamers. The type to use "gay" as an insult and talk about how they totally just "raped" someone in game. All about the boys club attitude of gaming. And yeah, I admit I occasionally picture them in baseball hats and american eagle clothes and playing halo a lot. But I don't think I ever knew anyone like that in college.

Side note: I'm amused by you speaking in the plural. Like you are an army of users. Or a council.

that's more or less my mental image of them, except with more fedora, and imo, it's basically become a more modern image of the "good old boy" and "good old boys club"

My brother would fit that description were it not for the dress. He wears the same ~8 shirts all the time--mostly black band t-shirts.

But the things he says when he plays games makes me move far from him because I just don't care to hear the same ridiculous insults on repeat for hours.

i don't even really care about their physical image so much, because lord i know not everyone who dresses like that (or thinks that fedoras make them look cool) is a sexist douchebag, but it's definitely a physical assocation with the behavior

I personally define dudebro as someone of a male persuasion who drastically overcompensates the mainstream ideal of masculinity to the point of becoming a caricature of it, up to and including misogyny, homophobia, petulant aggression, and forceful insensitivity, because the opposite of those things makes you a "pussy", in dudebro vernacular. There are dudebro nerds, dudebro frat boys, dudebro kids (the ones playing Xbox LIVE without parental supervision) dudebro old guys, and so forth. Their age and social skills has nothing to do with their ability to be really really annoying and, somehow, everywhere.
