Unless they put their negative opinions behind cuts, or on specific forums, it is making others read them. It is more about the complainer wanting others to change their mind about something they enjoy.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-15 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
No, actually. Sometimes it is, but sometimes it isn't. Sometimes people want to discuss things they don't like with other fans just as sometimes people want to discuss things they do like with other fans. Unless you are suggesting that every single discussion ever should go behind a cut, negative discussions shouldn't have to go behind a cut unless there are spoilers. People who don't like something may get annoyed when they see a post enjoying that aspect. They just have to scroll past.

If you can't handle even seeing the words of a negative discussion, well then that is your problem. Fans shouldn't be forced to not talk about what they want to in communities devoted to that fandom unless the community rules restrict what can be talked about.

Why are you so insistent on being allowed to make people miserable? Does it ruin your fun if people want to enjoy something? Do you get offended that you don't get to decide what people like? Is it so hard for you just to keep negative SJWing to a relevant forum?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-15 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Discussing thing people don't like doesn't make everyone miserable. Some people enjoy discussions about social justice aspects of fandom or the things they don't like about a fandom they otherwise love. A general community is for any discussion of the fandom, so any discussions about that fandom are relevant. If you want to only see happy things, make a positive-only community.

I don't understand what is so hard about scrolling past discussions you don't like or don't agree with.

Peple come on, happy, peppy, wanting to discuss the thing making them happy. See the screed of SJW rantings, dare to say they were made happy, get abused by SJWs for saying that. So they say "fuck that" and fuck off with the thing that made them happy now a sour memory.

So keep it sweet, or keep it to a misery pit forum. It isn't hard to let people be happy about what made them happy. Why do you need people to see what made you miserable unless you want someone else to be miserable?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-15 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I'm officially done. If you can't handle any negativity whatsoever, that is your problem. You're the one with issues here, and you're the one being the bully here. You clearly have some issues since you keep bringing the discussion back to SJWs in spite of the fact that the discussion is not about that.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
DA

Says you. Sometimes I come on happy and peppy about some media, and wanting to discuss the one niggling thing that was bothering me in all that happy peppiness, because it's ruining my high and I want to get it off my mind. And once I find other people who feel the way I feel about that niggling negative thing and we take it apart and examine it, I feel so much better, we end on the consensus that the media we're discussing is still the Best Thing Ever, and we move on, peppier than ever. Your belief that only way to be happy is to never to bring up anything complex or constructive in discussion would make me and a lot of people really miserable in fandom. I'd rather have SJWs in charge than you, friend.

DA - everyone must comply with their ridiculously over-sensitive "I only want to squee and an such a speshul snoflake that any disagreement makes me miserable and everyone must cater to me" line.

The passive-aggressiveness in this one is strong, Luke.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-15 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, you've ran out of arguments and are just into the insults now. How very SJW.

DA
To be fair, you weren't really arguing to begin with. You're being very emotional, most of what you're saying is based on your own feelings, and the rest is just not true.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-15 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
So much this. The AYRT is obviously conflating two separate issues: 1) some people like to discuss aspects of a fandom that they personally dislike, and 2) some people (both in the positive and negative camps) can't handle any hint of disagreement and will harass and insult fans who present counterarguments to their own views.

If the latter is an actual problem in a particular community (as opposed to only existing in anon's fevered imagination, which is also a possibility), then I agree that the comm should make an official policy stating that debate and disagreement are welcome but personal attacks on other members are not. But polite disagreement is not an insult, and ffs it's not bullying to say, "I think differently from you."

(Anonymous) 2013-06-15 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Why are YOU so insistent that negative dicussions 'make people miserable' (by which you clearly mean you personally can't handle them). Grow a backbone, jeez.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
If a post about how someone doesn't like some aspect of your fav show makes you *miserable* then you've got serious problems and what is and isn't allowed on a fandom comm is the least of your problems.

Negative social commentary about a particular fandom IS RELEVANT on comms about that fandom. Because *gasp* they are about that fandom.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Why are you so insistent that negative posts inherently make people miserable just by existing in the same forum as positive posts?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
If you're so sensitive that reading the slightest criticism on something you like makes you miserable and you think everyone who disagrees with you is personally attacking you, you probably shouldn't be on the internet at all.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
What the hell?

You do not have to read every post in a forum.

You if you start reading a post you can stop at any time.

So, how *exactly* is not putting something behind a cut *forcing* another person to read it?
