(Anonymous) 2013-06-15 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)But I did want to add something that wasn't mentioned in the above posts: If for some reason you can't afford to see a gynecologist, or your current doctor is one of the assholes telling you to "just deal with it", I'd suggest checking out Planned Parenthood if there's one nearby. When I first left school and had fuck-all for insurance, I went there for my yearly checkup, and, at least in my experience, they were very knowledgeable, and really, really good about explaining various birth control options and potential side effects in detail. At least in the states that haven't completely gutted their funding, they'll subsidize the cost if you can't pay the full price. (I'm in Southern California, so your experience may vary.) I just wanted to mention it, since people forget that they do full women's health, not just pregnancy-related issues.
