I've never read The Road, but Blood Meridian isn't written conventionally. There're all run on sentences, no punctuation beyond periods (not even quotations to indicate speech), and most of the sentences are grammatically incomplete fragments. It took a while to get into the rhythm, and I'm not entirely sold on it. I've had to reread a few sentences just to understand what is trying to be said. It reminds me a bit of As I Lay Dying or Sound and the Fury, but far more understandable than Sound and the Fury.

I was, to put it lightly, not a fan of House of the Leaves. I honestly think it's funny, whenever I bring it up in conversation on reddit or elsewhere online. It's a really polarizing book.

Yup. Sounds like The Road. I just couldn't get into because of the lack of punctuation and such.
