1 - How did you even understand the movie? It's not one that just anyone can enjoy, it makes no sense unless you know the backstory. I mean it's damn pretty, but storywise D:

14 - I did the exact same thing. There's only so many times you can write the same old and just put aside what it is that you want to really write. My old name (by fic standards) is pretty dead now, but hell, am I having fun with the new stuff!

38 - I think the white wine bit just killed me dead. No, just no!

Wrong number!

And by 1, I mean 2. *fails*

OP here. I thought you might have meant me. :)

I knew about the game and the story for it for years so I went in to the movie already knowing the premise and most of the more obvious and important details. It was never enough for me to really get interested in the game. I watched other people play it, I read fics and got my game canon from other sources.

it was after the movie that I wanted to know more about some of the details that I knew only gameplay would give me.

Honestly! I fail at stuff tonight! XD

Okay, because I've played the game once, had a huge break, watched the movie and quite a bit went over my head. I was going to try and get non-ff7 people to try and watch it with me. But I don't think it would have kept their attention for a second.

Makes perfect sense now. And I personally don't see why that makes you less of a fan.

*tentatively raises a hand* I knew next to nothing about FF and watched the movie. I still haven't played the games and what I know about the FF series consists of what I've gleaned from my flist and Kingdom Hearts. But I did like the movie, so uh... yeah? Maybe it was just the pretty... shiny things do tend to attract my attention...

It's fine that you do. I just found it a little hard to grasp myself, having only played the game once and it having been quite a few years since I had. A lot went over my head. But yeah, pretty is pretty! :D

Yeah, it was my cousin who knew all about the background to the story, and even then that was because of fanfics/wikipedia/etc. Basically, she begged the fansubbed version off my uncle (who would download just about any unliscenced anime for us at the time) and we watched it. She gave me a brief low-down and I enjoyed the shiny. Was very nice shiny.
