I don't think that that's the problem with the FF7 fandom. But let's not go into that ^_^;

Personally, I think that if you got into FF7 through the movie and only subsequently played the game, then you're almost bound to prefer the former. In a way it's one of those "you had to be there" things, I guess. It was really special when it first came out, in terms of graphics and gameplay and characters and so on. But if you play the game today -- especially after seeing the movie first and being spoiled in both senses of the words; spoiled with amazing graphics and spoiled story-wise -- then it probably wouldn't be as unique and mindblowing. ...I hope that made sense, sorry for randomly babbling like that.
