That's an increasingly prevailing opinion... but why? Everytime I venture to ask people are shooting the question down out of pocket. Of course, this is on the Anime Central forums, so many I ought not be surprised...

Apparently he's had some negative comments to say about this and that in the past....? It's all quite vague to me.

In my personal experience, he has been nothing but downright selfish during conventions. He'll interupt panels in order to get attention; at the last convention I went to, I saw him do this twice. He'll enter a room and say "HEY EVERYBODY!" when the presenters are talking.

He'll also get pissed off when people don't PRAISE his work and treat him like a golden god. I've seen him follow Ed cosplayers around and just wait until they notice him... It's just creepy.

I base my opinion on my experience with him... I'm sure other people feel differently and I'm sure if he's treated the way he wants to be, he can be a great guy; for fans that do praise his work, he's very generous and outgoing with them.... but his attitude with everyone else is what bugs me and how he deals with differing opinions.

He needs to get over himself.

He's also got a lot to say about "gay" characters, he's pissed off a lot of fans with his talk about Fai and Kurogane in Tsubasa, and also about yaoi fans in general. I don't know too much about it, because I don't really watch dubs, but it was ~*~*~*~big news~*~*~*~ for a while.

.. I might be one of the few people left on the planet who likes Vic.

Just from personal experience. I saw him come to AnimeNEXT (in New Jersey) twice, and spoke with him personally. He was really sweet and outgoing and polite and I loved him to pieces! as did most people there, from the WILD, WILD APPLAUSE he'd get whenever he showed up.

that WAS like three years ago though. maybe the ensuing time and fame has gone to his head? =/

It does seem like the anti-Vic sentiment is an invention of the past year or so. Again, my experiences are limited at best.

Yeah, I don't pretend to know all of what's going on with that - especially when it comes to ACen officers, who have plenty of problems of their own.
