9. I am totally fucking there with you. Before loading down a character with unrealistic disorders, a writer should pay attention to everything else about them. By god, it's not like Death Note characters in particular need something artificial like that tacked on to give them more depth, and it only reflects badly on the writer.

Even worse is when someone tries to express that concern to the writer and they use the controversial nature of the disorder to make the other person look like the bad guy. I've found it particularly appalling when I've heard of writers who'd researched a disorder, written it into a fic, and then gotten bitchy at critics who actually had the disorder.

ugh, bottom line is IAWTS.
