I, too, am a sucker for a violin in a rock band. There's something about the mixture of the sounds of violin, electric bass, guitar and drums that sounds so rich.

Me too; I'm a huge sucker for orchestral instruments in rock music. It's a really great combination.

It's one of those things you don't realize go well together until you first hear it and it's like, why isn't this everywhere, ever.

I've always loved the juxtaposition of the "modern" and "classic" instrumentation and writing, too.

[Picture is a man playing a cello. It looks like a screencap from a musical video, but I can't find who this is, sorry.]

I know fandom only likes his guitar work but his violin and cello playing is better. As a music major it makes me happy to see my instruments in mainstream music.
