I mean, it only starts by saying that AH made a terrible Hannibal Lecter. Obviously we're meant to read that as "a terrible real life cannibal". /looking sarcastic

It is indeed. "He looks the part" = he looks like the character he is portraying.

"What part do you play in this new TV series, Mads?"
"Oh, I play the part of a deranged, mass-murdering psychoanalyst with culinary pretensions."

Anon, why would you think that a secret with pictures of two versions of a famous fictional character posted on a comm about fandom secrets would be discussing the authenticity of real life serial killers? Your (albeit hilarious) calling-out only makes sense if you somehow failed to realized that Hannibal Lecter isn't a real person.

To be honest, Lecter is describe to be a "small" man. Can't remember his other characteristics, but he's also to be lithe and the like, i think. Hopkins has the height down, while new guy has the mannerisms down a tad more. If you could mix the two, he'd have Hannibal.

Yes, I remember that, of which, neither of these actors possess. I went for actual stature here, which seems to be OPs thing against Hopkins, when in reality, he fits a little more than the other guy does.
