My partner and I were talking about what we did with ours.

Mine? They ended up in Ken's scantily-clad harem, and I'm pretty sure some of them were lesbians.

My partner dissected theirs.

My cousin discovered that swapping heads was easier than swapping outfits. This often led to various Barbies having heads shoved down far enough they were basically neckless.

Her Barbie box was horrific.

My sister and I used to make our barbies perform in disturbing soap operas where they had sex with everyone and killed each other. I didn't have a ken doll so I took my brother's Triple H wrestling action figure. Barbie was quite a bit taller.

Made them act out stories, like they were actors in plays, and made families where Barbie and Ken were the mom and dad and Kelly was the daughter.

I also liked to give them makeovers with marker, but it didn't always come off as easily as I hoped. And I was always putting Barbie clothes on Ken.

I would wrap them in masking tape and pretend they had "accidents".

For once, this may be the least morbid thing said so far.

I preferred playing with my plastic horses, but some of the horses were big enough for Barbie to ride, so they were included as minor characters in horsey adventures.

I mostly combed or braided their hair, changed outfits, then put them aside to arrange and rearrange the furniture. I liked setting up toys more than actually playing with them.

I traded my brother for his 12" GI Joe dolls, and he played dress up with them and the GI Joes played house together in my dollhouse. They took a lot of Jacuzzis

Sex. All the sex. And kidnapping! Also I didn't have a Ken or anything that would be a decent substitute, so all my Barbies were lesbians.

Shoe box + knitting needles = Barbie-sized iron maiden. Best thing about getting new shoes as a kid.

Mine were Amazon warriors. I sewed them miniskirts and bra tops out of old fabric. They would go to war against the My Little Ponies.

One learned to fly out the window. My neighbor still jokes me about it to this day. "I was just sittin' on the porch when that doll came flyin' out your bedroom window. I wondered what you were up, Child."

I used them to act out scenes from movies. Once I tried to recreate the fight scenes from The Princess Bride with Barbies wielding tiny plastic swords.

My sister did most of the actual playing, but sometimes we'd play baseball with them. Ken as a bat, Barbie as a ball (or vice versa) and we'd try to hit them as far as possible in the staircase.

When we got tired of them, we'd cut their hair and dye it with sharpies, which were also used for makeup. Very punk rock.

I made elaborate stories with them, with some weird stuff going on. At one point when I was a bit older one of the Ken dolls became Wolverine (from X-Men). One Barbie became the eccentric older woman who wore mismatched clothes and kept a baby in her purse.

Had my one Ken doll (who only had swim trunks) the villain always trying to abduct my barbies. I had another barbie and made it the typical good-guy of the group of girls saving them from Ken.
Lots of kidnapping.

It died a slow, lonesome death at the back of my closet.

However, my brother and I must have spent thousands of hours role-playing with stuffed animals and legos. Much more interesting. :D

Mine were super-intelligent aliens that had physical things that "weren't right" about them -- like the main Barbie's legs were secretly a single leg she joined when no one was looking, for instance. In their secret meetings, they'd also *gasp* have messy hair and makeup and wear rags or the "wrong" clothes, usually Ken's, the wrong way. When they revealed their true form to show-off Ken (we had the type with flexible biceps), his mind snapped and he ended up becoming a devoted if slightly insane pack mule and tap-dancer in sparkly underwear for their Earth samples and amusement, respectively.

(And after re-reading that, I was curious and found out that, yes, there is a Cthulhu Barbie out there.)

They had exciting jungle adventures in the backyard, usually involving dinosaurs.

Also once for Halloween I decapitated a few of them to try to make a shrub into a death's head tree.

They were almost all like a family unit with mothers and sisters and daughters and they had adventures like kidnappings and car chases and remodeling the bathroom (I honestly think my favorite aspect of playing with Barbies was setting up their house-- that bathroom set was bitchin' ok). They were almost all brunettes (I don't think I ever had Barbie herself) and some where business women-- one was trying to open a museum and was having trouble coming up with the last $60 to build it because I thought $60 was hard to come by and enough to fund a museum.

My friend and I tried to collect the Generation Girl collection and those were our favorites. Lara, Chelsea and Anna were the ones I had.

They're currently in a box in the closet, unless my mom donated them.

For my big sister and me, playing barbies was a big deal. Our favourites all lived in the houses we had and we would switch between playing with them and the animals (we had a huge tub of original littlest pet shop stuff, among other plastic/rubber/whatever animals that could pass as pets). With the barbies, they would always get captured by the bad guys, aka a Ken doll with his feet chewed off, Pocahontas, and Skipper; and end up tied up naked somehow. there was never any sexual abuse and I don't know where we got the idea that that would be the worst torture, but the animals (led by my sister's Lassie and my Max the german shepherd) would always save them somehow. I'm also pretty sure that the bad guys were loosely based off Team Rocket. good times...

Sold some in a garage sale, the rest I put in storage and recently gave to my (old enough now) little sister

They became the giants that attacked my lego castles. RAWWRR BARBIE CRUSH. They fought with the plastic dinosaurs sometimes, too.

For some reason, my Barbies always ended up without clothes. I guess they were nudists.

Roleplaying! All the roleplaying as characters of children's books I loved :3

... It was a lot like Takarazuka.

I drowned some of them, and at one time, I buried one. My mother found it while working in the garden some years ago - it looked interesting and a bit creepy, with all the roots tangled around it.

But I usually treated most of them well and in the end gave them away to a friend's kids - except my favourite. That one got a ritual burning.
