Then where are they reading fic? Livejournal communities have images and descriptions too that make it clear it's a series, and fanfiction.net puts Sherlock (BBC) in the "tv series" category. It's a little hard to read fic and not catch on that you're reading it for a series, because you have to find it to begin with.

Not the OP or AYRT but I first found Sherlock through the all-purpose, any-adaptation kink meme. I was using the Delicious archive to read completed fics and was surprised and confused when Sherlock went from lurking in an alleyway in a disguise to texting John. I thought it was a one-of AU for a bit until it started gaining fandom ground (back before season two's airdate had even been announced)
