When I was a kid performer, Matilda would have been the absolutely perfect role for me.

And it breaks my heart that I was born a decade and a half too early to even have a chance at playing her.

I WISH. I have a feeling that that part will have a male actor for as long as the musical runs. And I don't wanna be Miss Honey...at this point, the best I could hope for is Mrs. Wormwood.

I just like roles that are more funny or snappy. Miss Honey is a little too lovely for me. One of the reasons I like Matilda so much is that she isn't overly precious.

Hmmm. People who say things like this are always working under the assumption that they would have been more than good enough to easily get that role and time is the only thing working against them. I always wonder if that has any basis in reality.

I mean, there's always student productions and school plays, I don't think OP was necessarily aiming immediately for Broadway, just the chance to play Matilda is a stage show somewhere.
