I've got far too much invested in that damn show to stop watching no matter what they did, and I've got enough faith in it that whatever stupid decisions they make there's enough of what's integral to Doctor Who left that it's still worth watching.

With that said, I'll be furious and disappointed and sad and waiting for the next regeneration already if they do that. With that said, I'm extremely optimistic that it won't be an issue.

-That idea has come up, largely as a joke but with some people taking it seriously, every time that there's been so much as a rumoured regeneration, since as early as Tom Baker's leaving if not before then, so the fact that it's coming up now doesn't mean they'd actually do it.

-For all his talk, Moffat doesn't drift too far from the status quo, and he doesn't change the game. He pretends to, he does little things which he makes SEEM bigger than they are, but he never actually follows through on those changes. It would be extremely unlikely for him to make such a big change.

-Moffat himself has also used female Doctor as a punchline of a joke, in such a manner that it makes it pretty clear that it's NOT a direction he thinks would make sense.

-BBC is not in the business of alienating people. Doctor Who's two primary markets (in terms of merchandise, which is how it makes money, given that BBC is an advertisement free channel) are families and hardcore fans. They don't want to make the show less appealing to young boys, who are a main market for the toys, and they think (whether rightly or wrongly being a different topic) that a female hero would do that. I doubt they'd want to scare off any parents by having a gender-fluid character either. Plus, they know that a lot of fans would be upset by that level of change. Monetarily, it just doesn't make sense.

A- you're a femaly misogynist
B- you just want a hot dude to ogle
C- you're a male misogynist

To be honest, I'd love a female Doctor under the right circumstances, but
