I'm no fan of Homestuck but I don't think they're any crazier than the other batshit fandoms. I mean, they ARE batshit. They're just not on a deeper level of insanity than the crazier sides of Supernatural, Sherlock, etc fans.

This. Homestuck fans seem a lot more generally craft oriented than what I've seen from other fandoms, but it's usually just more of the same old same old I've been seeing for years.

yeah... maybe because they *are* so craft-oriented (that is, they make a lot of objects that they can then carry around/show off) they *seem* crazier? Because it's not all on the computer, and some of it is out there in the real world...
But yeah that doesn't make them crazier. They're just their own flavor of crazy.

This is the first fandom I've come across that produces a lot of audio works. On top of all the filk and parody songs done in-character, there's an ongoing full-cast reading of the comic and even audio porn (Homesmut Voices).
