That might be a troll comment, but I bet there are a lot of people thing it. Everytime a regeneration rolls around and the choices of woman or black churns up a lot of people start saying all sorts of socially acceptable supportive comments, but then cross their fingers that it never happens. As soon as a white male is cast at least half those who were right-on enough to talk up a black or an oriental for the role --male or not-- start talking about how great it was that the white male was chosen. You could hear their sigh of relief from across the globe when Matt was chosen. Then they all went back to making fun of the Joanna Lumley spoof.

The Beeb knows it, and that is why it'll never have a black woman as the Doctor. For all the fan base tries to follow the SJW line, they don't really want that.

Me, I hope it isn't an Irishman.

Interestingly, it's canon (as much as anything in the Doctor Who 'verse is canon) that race is no barrier for the Doctor's regenerations. In the episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures with Eleven, Clyde asks him point-blank if he could regenerate and end up black, and the Doctor's response was, "Sky's the limit."

I have no problem with the Doctor "theoretically" being able to be a black or a woman, just with them actually doing it. Keep it for fanfic.
