I know what you mean about feeling guilty about lying, but as far as deflecting techniques go that's probably the politest and less harmful, or at least up there in the top ten.

I mean, if they were living, like, around the block and saw there's no child living in your house then, whoops, but they probably live farther away and only visit your area when they're evangelizing, no?
