Well, anyway. I don't participate much in the fandom anymore since it got an anime (same happened to me when P4A aired, strangely). But, I'm curious. Whom do you wank about, OP? Saiduq? Yamato? Hibiki? And don't worry; I totally understand why you think wank is fun. It is fun ;)

Devil Survivor 2, I'm assuming? I'm curious which character everyone was arguing about. Maybe some of the drama will come back once the series ends, if they're going for the ending I think they're going for (judging by the way they've been butchering the cast left and right, I think they're going to go for Daichi's route which can't help but come off as a cop out at this point. Anguished One's route would've been so much more interesting.)

It's hardly "everyone", just a few of us who are rather passionate about Yamato's character. After episode 9 we were really unhappy with the anime characterizations, and then people started screaming loudly about the fanservice in the tag, and, well, it kind of escalated into a fight between the side which thinks the anime is terrible yaoibait and the side which doesn't care and is just there for the yaoiz.

Ah, that makes sense. Yamato's my favorite character in the game and I'm not happy with what the anime's doing to him myself >_< I think they're trying way too hard to make him a villain at the expense of his character. Every time they have him sacrfice countless JPs mooks for no reason other than to prove what an asshole he is, all I can think is "Game Yamato thinks Anime Yamato is a shit incompetent commander." Plus it makes less and less sense why everyone keeps sticking around JPs, since I feel like we're getting a lot of Hibiki yelling "We won't be your pawns and follow your orders anymore!" *Septentrione appears* *Hibiki and co. be Yamato's pawns and follow his orders* At least in the game it made sense since Yamato's plans were saving everyone's butts.

I'm a little surprised the 'just here for the yaoiz' crowd is taking it so lightly, though. I totally ship Yamato/Main character in the game (you get his Fate level up high enough he practically becomes your boyfriend, after all. Plus choose his route and he sends you an email with a takoyaki picture, and he pretty much goes yandere over you in Daichi's route. It's glorious!) and the anime is totally fucking up my ship.

it IS fun

there is passion about what you like and an easy target for confrontation and feeling superior

that's why it's also not so great, though, fun aspects aside

seeking "us vs them" situations can get oh so easy but cause so much conflict you don't even notice
