I have been 'net friends with this person for, like, years. It's one of those cases where you don't even remember how it all began.

I'm going to be meeting them face to face soon.

I might perhaps be just a teensy bit anxious about this meeting.

I got to hang out with an online friend I'd known for nine years face-to-face at the end of last year. We were sort of long distance (almost opposite ends of the country) but everything finally worked out and we got to meet and hang out. It was awesome, everything clicked immediately, it was all like it always had been between us.

I guess there's a chance it might be weird but really, if you've known them for a long time and you really get along, (and, uh, I guess if there's no surprises in store with regards to what they look like or anything) it'll probably go great.

Good luck, OP! I have three or four friends (and one best friend) who started off as 'online friends', and like you I was so scared to meet them initially, because I'm just not outgoing in person until I've known someone for awhile, but it was the best thing I ever did. :D

(BFF and I just got back from Hawaii in April, too, and it was amazing!)
