So I'm the only one excited about a Book of Virtues secret?

Huh.

Plato was my favourite. :)

I know nothing about this fandom, but the girl on the right looks like a weird combination of the chick from Ferngully, Melody from Little Mermaid 2, and primarily something else I can't quite put my finger on.

Holy fuck

I remember this show

[Picture is the cast of the cartoon "Adventures from the Book of Virtues". Plato is the talking bison who read the stories to the human children in the show, for context.]

Adventures from the Book of Virtues was one of my favorite childhood shows. It really taught me a lot about courage, compassion, responsibility, etc.

B!S: I used to have a crush on Plato, and I still do, for his voice.

Woah, I was thinking about this show the other day and couldn't remember the title! Great timing, Anon. I didn't watch it that much, but I remember thinking it was a nice show. :)

I loved this show too, and Plato's voice was awesome. It really did send a good message to kids, and they actually made it fun to watch.

Though it also probably helped that my childhood was flooded with anthro shit, so I was pretty pre-disposed towards a talking bison.

I always thought Book of Virtues was great because it was engaging and taught values all without making me feel like it was cramming religion down my throat.

Yeah, this.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-20 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
What PBS shows were you watching that crammed religion down your throat?

[personal profile] byonicluna 2013-06-20 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I can't find this in Wikipedia's summaries and the youtube videos are blocked in my country, but is this the show where they make Athena turn Andromeda from Greek mythology into a warrior in one of the tales? I could swear it was this show.

In any case, yeah, this was an awesome show. :D It made me interested in mythology and stories in general, plus, you know, actual values that didn't feel forced in the eyes of a child watching the show. Gotta appreciate those.

I liked Plato, Ari the Prarie Dog, and Aurora the Red-Tailed Hawk, but didn't care for Socrates the bobcat. Scott Bakula, Mark Harmon, Dean Cain, Mark Hamil, and Elijah Wood are some of the actors that did voicework.
