I love Star Trek but Iron Man 3 was a better movie than Star Trek 2 :/ It was much more enjoyable.

Bullshit, Star Trek 2 was an awesome film with deep literary roots and two actors at the height of their profession (and their hamminess) facing off with each other even if the closest they came to sharing a scene was over a viewscreen. It had a heartbreaking climax as a character we'd grown with and had learned had the noblest spirit sacrificed for the good of them all, but still ended on a note of hope that even within death their was life.

Star Trek Into Darkness on the other hand was a pile of feculent poo which had only the most shallow and superficial story and actors (with the possible exception of Urban) who were struggling to act their way out of a wet paper bag.

Iron Man 3 was pretty good, but it was no Star Trek 2.

(I think of the newer films as 11 and 12 so it always makes me pause when people call them 1 and 2.)

Since Abrams refused to give them numbers I don't see how they can call them Trek 1 and 2. Especially since Old!Spock's presence means they are in the same movie line as the previous films, so they aren't really a reboot either.

Sorry anon, I meant Star Trek 2 as in ID. No logical reason for me to be comparing it to the older movie when we're talking about the new ones.

Since it is in the same series as the previous films and same line of sequels, not numbered by the production team for that reason, how can you justify that? They aren't reboots, or re-imagings, or anything like that, they are just more sequels.
