Depends on the friend, but if they were shitty, I ignore them and move on. Don't even accept, say, a FB friend request because it might give them the wring idea if you really intend to move on. There's just no point the wasting energy and time if 1) you have nothing in common anymore and 2) you have other, better friends you can spend your time with.
