I'm really sad today, and all I want to do is cut. I have fresh blades in my art drawer, but I'm not going to do it. I just really want to. I've never cut before, so I'm not going to start. I bought the blades for a genuine art project, but now it's just mocking/tempting me by being so close at hand. I hate depression. I was doing so well, and this relapse is killing me, making even basic functions very difficult and uncomfortable. I hate being sad.

Nope, you're not going to, at all. Do you have a rl person you can talk to? Do you have a therapist? If you have a rl person you can talk to, go do that. Or even an online help line or phone helpline.

Just find someone to talk to, besides us.

And yup, you're right - you're not gonna do it.

I let my Mom and therapist know how I was feeling. My Mom is out of the house right now. I'm waiting for her to get back so we can talk. Thank you for being supportive.

I'm right there with you nonnie. I really don't have much advice to offer except to talk to someone and see if that helps at all. When I was triggered earlier this week and all I wanted to do was cut again, I called my dr. and talking to her, just telling her how I was feeling, actually helped me get to a place where the urge wasn't so strong. *hugs*

Something that can help me is take a red marker and slash wherever you feel the urge to cut. The slashing motion plus the mark can sometimes help.

Maybe it would be best to put the blades someplace you can't easily reach them? And find something to do to distract yourself from the urge. Other than that I agree with everyone else; talking it out with someone might be very helpful. (Anyone you feel comfortable with, imo. You don't even have to be particularly close to them.)

Depression is a pain in the ass, but you can beat it nonny.

Nothing much to add here, nonny, since all the other suggestions in this thread are really good. Just try to keep your chin up. My mom always tells me to do something completely repetitive and mundane to get my mind off my depression. I've found mindless chores really help. Go do laundry, wash dishes by hand, dust off all the countertops, etc. Anything to keep your hands busy and mind at that unthinking buzz.
