(Anonymous) 2013-06-21 01:28 am (UTC)(link)A female non-book canon female character? Ok, sure! If the first movie could devote as much time as it did to Radagast without bothering me, I'm all for seeing a kick ass elven woman injected into the movie.
Red Hair + "No we need to help the dwarves, you guys!" + Romantic subplot?
Pardon, but that's just really stereotypical and insulting, because yes: why can't she just be an amazing temporary ally the same way any male addition to the cast would be?
I'll see how she plays out, but turning her into a romantic, red-headed, dwarf loving elf just makes me feel less like she's there to further the story, and more like the avatar of media trends I despise and often feel insulted by.
