Yup. The fandom I'm in right now has adopted a fanon name for a character who's as yet unnamed in canon, but will be named in the next book, and I can already tell I'm going to be irrationally sad when the fanon name gets Jossed (and irrationally angry at fic authors who use the canon name, which is just plain silly).
