Good friends are almost always "loose and comfortable" with one another, you know. If anything, occasional sex mixed with friendships tends to ruin the relaxed parts of the relationship because of the post-coital awkwardness.

So...no. Probably haven't had sex.

This, absolutely.

I sleep with all my friends and all my friends sleep with me. Nothing changes unless you allow it to.Not that physical intimacy is a prerequisite for a close relationship, but the opposite isn't true either and it oftentimes does bring you closer.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-22 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I sleep with some of my friends, and I'll agree. It's not really that much different from a hug for me. Bonus, I get to make my friend feel good, and I feel good. I like it.

I'd say your relationship rules are unusual in this case.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-23 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
We feel no awkwardness after the sex at all. Possibly because we're not catholic or puritanic Americans.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-22 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm loose and comfortable with my family and close friends and have definitely never been "intimate" with any of them.

I kind of feel sad for you if you've never been able to be so comfortable around people like that unless you've slept with them.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-22 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
that's just how people act around others that they're comfortable with. I act that way with my sister all the time (though to be fair, people do occasionally mistake us as a couple)

This is the sort of thought process that gives slash fans a bad name and brings out the "two men can just be friends, you know!!!" crazies.

what's crazy about saying two men can just be friends?

I think they mean the "Putting two characters in a romantic relationship cheapens their friendship, stupid slash fangirls ruin everything" types.

Nothing's crazy about saying that. But harassing slashers because "OMG, NOT EVERYBODY IS GAY!!!" is pretty crazy.

'crazy' genner??

(Anonymous) 2013-06-23 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Really? That makes me crazy? :)

Sometimes it gets to me when EVERYTHING has to be slash, even though I recognise everyone gets their own interpretation, people see things differently, etc. etc.

And I have shipped some weird pairings. It still gets to me sometimes

If you're antagonizing slashers for all teh gay, then yeah, that makes you kind of crazy. If you'd just like to see more platonic friendships, I think you're fine (because I also would like to see more platonic friendships).

(Anonymous) 2013-06-22 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, OP. :(

I hope you find a really good friend some day. It seems like you haven't had one yet.
chardmonster: (Default)

You need friends.

[personal profile] chardmonster 2013-06-22 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
You need to stop seeing every close relationship as sexual.

This will probably require a break from fandom.

Re: You need friends.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-23 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Unless, of course, the parties in question are a man and a woman. That makes it ok.

Re: You need friends.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-23 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really. Quite a lot of people get annoyed that men and women aren't allowed to be 'just' friends with each other too. It's just a little insulting all 'round that to want to be friends with someone/close with someone, obviously you have to want to sleep with them too.

I don't get it.

Edit: Just read the rest of the exchange with the anons. I do get it now. And it's stupid.

I think they're just close friends, which is fitting considering that they're roommates. are you sure you really think this, or do you just ship it?

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-06-22 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Picture is Aidan Campbell and his roommate in a video called "Patient Test: Part 2" from the YouTube channel "MisterEpicMann". One of them is sitting in front of a computer, while the other stands behind them saying something and looking off to the distance.]

I honestly think they've been intimate in some way at some point. They're really loose and comfortable around each other. God what's wrong with me.

I didn't know RPS was a thing before F!S, and it's still hard for me to tell when people are just very into their RP ships or if the people are actually together.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-22 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
After watching a couple of videos now, they strike me more as brothers than just good friends. So, no, not getting the sexy vibe from their comfort with each other.
