Several times over the past few months, I've posted on F!S and the discussion posts have ended with my entry. I can't help but feel that I am completely unsuited for this list, since what I contribute seems useless and/or extraneous.

I like a lot of the posters here, admire many of them, but am sadly out of date, out of touch, or simply too awkward to continue here on the general comments. Nice seeing the secrets, it's been fun, but I really must be going now.

It's been a while since I've seen a flounce!

But if this is the hour you're typically coming in, the lack of comments probably has less to do with what you say and more to do with when you say it. At this point, you pretty much have to say something really fucking interesting to get noticed.

Unless all your posts are this full of passive-aggressive navel-gazing. Then it might be what you say. Either way, bye I guess.

Eh, I think that that kind of thing can often simply be related to the time when someone posts. People in different time zones than the majority seem to have a slight disadvantage in this regard.

Like threads get frozen or just no one replies? If it's the former, yeah I can't help you much, but if the latter - sorry but not everyone's obligated to reply to every comment you make. Sure, it might seem like "oh no one cares what i have to say" but if you look at everything together, the majority of comments aren't replied to. Whether it's anon to anon and no one got a notification, or no one feels like they have anything worthy to add other than "lol" or "+1", or someone honestly meant to reply but put it off until it was awkward, doesn't matter. That's just the way threads are.

I mean, if it makes you feel any better, only about 10% of the comments I make here ever get responded too. Probably less. But I know people do read them, so... yeah.

I think it mostly happens with when you post, really. This type of thing's definitely happened to me, where I get a little bit anxious because I ended something. There will definitely be days where I post a lot of comments and no one replies, and then I wonder "oh man, does no one like me?" But it just happens.

It's probably just a combination of when you post and what you're posting. Personally, I can post soon after the post goes up and only get a few replies since the topic isn't something that's likely to garner interest. Point in fact, last time I posted something I only got one response, then someone asked a question in my comment that everyone started answering instead.

So...yeah. Combo of timing + content is the most likely problem.
