Very few choices you make about how to live your life or what you find worthwhile to do are capable of making you a bad feminist, as long as you don't believe that all women should behave that way or that it's more natural or proper for women or anything like that.

This.

Feminism is about choices; choosing this doesn't make you a bad feminist. My mom was a stay at home mom for ~12 years while my sister and I grew up, and she still does most of the cooking. But this was her choice, and something that worked out well for her and my dad.

Feminism is giving the option to choose.

*sparkly feminist tears of joy*

A woman choosing to live her life the way she wants to makes the best kind of feminist there is. It's people who force a lifestyle on women or shame them for their choices that are disgusting. It's great that you know what you want, OP. I hope you find what you're looking for and don't let anyone give you shit for it.

[Picture is Jeeves and Wooster coming out of a building, from a live action adaptation of the "Jeeves" stories from the P.G. Wosehouse books.]

I don't want a Romeo to my Juliet. I don't want a John to my Sherlock. I don't want a Dean to my Cas. I don't want a Kirk to my Spock...

I want a Wooster to my Jeeves. I don't want to be a valet or manservant. (Even if I wasn't a woman.) But I do want someone to protect and serve and pour tea for and cook for and fish out of the soup again and again with a variety of brainy schemes and cleverly raised eyebrow.

I have a feeling this makes me a bad feminist.

I wish I could be a Wooster. Being stupid and rich and often drunk. And always rescued, no consequences. I could take the scary aunts.

:D

If being a feminist means cutting out the parts of you that are protective and caring towards other people, who would want to be one? Seriously. Be you--you want to take care of and love someone and that's one of the thing that makes us women awesome (as long as we don't let people use us & stuff).

(Anonymous) 2013-06-24 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
People who like to take care of others make the world a better place, be they ladies or gents.

Laurie looks like such a delicate flower next to Fry.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-24 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
The points about feminism have been articulated marvelously.

In other news, I feel like we should all band together and make a website wherein people try to look for their fandom other-halves. They make me sad. Ahem.

I am a medical/military person who can't sleep at night, I make awesome tea/coffee, my shoulder was once dislocated, my ankle was broken a few months ago and I still don't walk properly.....My brother drinks...... I hate getting in fights but I try to win them....I'm super short....I'm very loyal...anyone?

I wouldn't mind if you kept a head in the fridge....

(Anonymous) 2013-06-24 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That...would be a fun idea, though the chances of taking off would be depressingly low.

I'd offer but I'm a happy-go-lucky tease-y person whose a scardy cat ;A; So I don't fit what you want at all.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-24 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
That... I know I'm incredibly late on this but that actually sounds like it could work. Set it up half like a fanfic archive and half like a dating website. Call it... uh... yeah, I got nothing.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-25 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'd do it. Sob.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-24 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaaaw, OP, this makes me smile. I'd love to find a Jeeves to my Wooster, and you've just given me hope that there might be one out there. :'D
