For some reason it really pisses me off that USA now has three shows with lead characters who go by Michael/Mike. DON'T YOU KNOW ANY OTHER NAMES, YOU ASSHOLES???

LOL What are the 3 shows? I know Burn Notice, that's about it.

Shows with male hero characters all tend to have the same name though, like think about how many shows have characters with the name Jack or John.

LOL that is insane, did no one stop to question that before they put them on the air?!

On a similar note, it annoys me that Batman's mother and Superman's mother both have the same name. Why?

(I don't know if that last why is addressed to DC for being so unoriginal, or to myself for even caring.)

There's a common theory with name experts that says the name Martha is literally derived from the same word as "mother."

... wait, that might make it even worse.

Are they all blond and assholes? Because if so, then it's similar to a trend in webcomics about 8 years ago.

There were years between Burn Notice and Suits with a bunch of other shows between them. That it took so long for another Mike to appear in a lead role defies the odds. And Graceland doesn't really factor in because it was the real guy's name and it was important to a lot of people to not change it.

NA - I watch most of the daily marathons on USA (NCIS, SVU, etc) and the commercials say it's based on true events. I don't know how strictly, though. The official website doesn't say anything about it all, but I didn't watch all the videos they have on the site, either.

I hate that name. I have honestly ended friendships with people online when I find out their real name is Michael, Mike, Mick, Mickey, Etc. Just fucking HATE that name. I don't know why.

If you're ending friendships with people solely because of their name, then I think you might possibly have a problem that might possibly bear looking in to.

uhhhh... i can understand disliking a name, but dislking a PERSON just because their parents chose that name for them? when you don't even know what kind of persn they are?

Stay away from the Die Hard movie where he's in Russia. Apparently there's a long period of time where the bad guy is munching on a carrot and throwing a villainous hissy fit.

Sorry, I just find this rant funny because at one point in high school there were SEVEN different Michael's in the band. And then were only about 70 people in the band total, so we were literally comprised of 10% Michael-ness.

I was in a college class once that had two students who shared both a first AND a last name, so the professor had to distinguish them by middle initial.

And my first year in the dorms, there was a triple room down the hall that had two Lauras and a Laurie.

I had the same thing in my high school class. They didn't have middle names, so they got called Mary Miller I and Mary Miller II. :/

The weirdest thing is that they were actually related. You would have thought that their parents would have tried to avoid that happening...

Six of the eight girls in my high school graduating class were named Jennifer.

My little brother's class of 30 kids in elementary school had seven Sarah's. The teachers had to call them by their last name's first initial all the way through school, to the point that some of still go "huh?" when addressed only by their first name (one of them is now a somewhat famous local radio host and still goes by "Sarah P." on her show.... ....even though there are no other Sarahs on the station).

Things like WHY THE HELL DO WE CARE SO MUCH ABOUT KIM AND KANYE'S BABY NAME?! I don't care how dumb or not the name is, but that might be my general dislike for celeb gossip speaking.

How people never seem to say goodbye or anything of that sort before hanging up the phone in tv shows/movies. They're just always hanging up suddenly, and now that I've noticed it I can't unnotice it. And it's EVERYWHERE! D:

Or how no one seems to lock their front door when they come into the house in shows/movies either.

Or how in the movie ATM (which was dumb to begin with) the girl doesn't use the key to lock the fucking car just because the remote locker doesn't work. She just leaves it unlocked and walks away. Which is ridiculous.

Mine is when people turn to talk while 'driving' in movies. WATCH THE ROAD. No matter how dumb it was, Vanilla Sky gets special love from me for lampshading this.
