But my major fandoms are medievally-fantasy and I find it way harder to imagine genderswapping.

Weird, this is the exact kind of scenario where I WOULD love gender swapping. Modern ones...eh, not that big a difference. But a medieval fantasy world that's a lot like the stuff we read about in books, but where all the men and women's roles are flipped? Characters that fit certain tropes, but of the opposite gender from how they're usually portrayed? Female knights fighting for the favor of gorgeous passive guys? Daughters avenging their mothers' deaths? Epic female friendships? And would it be just the members of the main cast? Or would it be a whole parallel universe with a matriarchal society? That would be SO fascinating!

Like, if it's the former, how does society at large treat these unusual characters? Why are these particular characters so unusual, and what about their circumstances and background allowed them to get away with being so unusual? And if it's the latter, how did a matriarchal society like that come about? What details regarding biological differences would essentially have to be different for such a society to make sense? So many possibilities!

At least for me, a fictional matriarchal society is not particularly interesting because the stories I really like are the ones focused on the subjugated group struggling to rebel against their oppression. In that world, those stories would belong to male characters, and I don't need anymore of that.

That doesn't really make sense. Most "rebel against your oppressors" stories set in patriarchal societies are STILL all about the men. So if we flip that, why couldn't we have a story about females from a different subjugated group? Not all males IRL are from a privileged groups -- and there's loads of stories about men of lower classes, minority races, oppressed religions and nationalities and sexual orientations, etc, rebelling against their oppressors.

So why couldn't we have a story about a matriarchal society where some women are oppressed by other women due to things that have nothing to do with their gender? Just like the 3847376473 stories that have already been written about men being oppressed by other men?

I'm speaking, very specifically, about the gender-based oppression women faced in a patriarchy, and stories related to that, which are most certainly not about the men. They may be few and far between, but that's precisely why I want to see more of those. You can stop trying to sell your idea to me, I can see that you're passionate about it but it really isn't for me.

No, I understand that. But you didn't specific gender-based oppression against women in your previous comment. You just said oppression in general. You'll have to be more specific if you want people to understand your arguments. We aren't psychic.

I would love this so, so, so very much. *So* much.
