No, I completely understand and that's kind of why it's a secret. Depictions of actual animals or people (ESPECIALLY children) being hurt in that way do honestly upset me. Even seeing it with the baby koyukkuri can make me "egh" a little bit. With Yukkuri, they're often depicted as being entitled, demanding little shitheads who only care about themselves and given that they're essentially magical talking pastries (ones that I was kind of raised on) makes it not so bad to me.

Also, I can assure you I'm not doing it out of spite. I'm pretty neutral towards the Touhou fandom and I think a lot of the characters are pretty cute and seem pretty fun. I don't hate the characters or the fandom at all. I didn't even think Yukkuri were "official" characters and I really don't interact or show my art to the fandom at large because I know it would upset a lot of them. It's just a way to relieve stress and I don't intend to upset anyone.

You definitely don't have to feel sorry because I understand how you feel completely and, as I said, that's exactly why it's a secret. I'm sure other people feel the same and would have the same concerns.

Awww, I'd like to offer you a (virtual) hug.

I do the same thing even with characters I really like. I just like to draw blood and injuries because I find it aesthetically appealing and interesting to draw. It doesn't mean I'd ever want to see real people go through things like that. The fiction versus reality barrier in my mind's pretty sturdy.

I'm glad to hear all that, it at least puts my mind at ease a bit. When it comes to how yukkuris are depicted, well, it really depends on the artist. I mean, for every fanart or comic you can find where they're being little shits, I can probably find another one where they're simply depicted as adorable little children. One of my favorites I can never seem to find when I want it is a picture showing off little raincoats for yukkuri to keep them safe from the rain, complete with pictures of them jumping about and playing in puddles. It's so darling, and going from that to seeing them slowly, painfully murdered is...a bit of a jump.

They're also not really..."official characters", quote-unquote. I just didn't know how to refer to them. They're essentially glorified joke characters made to spew a catchphase that got popular enough to become a "thing". They've never been in any of the canon materials, to my knowledge, only fanworks, and that's part of why their "depictions" tend to vary so widely.

I'm really glad you responded and was so reasonable about the whole thing. Regardless, though, I still can't help but look at you funny just for knowing you do that sort of thing...it's just really hard to rationalize because I'm not the kind of person who deals with stress in that way, and I guess that means I can't truly understand it. Sorry about that.
