I'd guess the naming repeats are because the author wants to cover their bases no matter what tag people search for and -- if that's AO3 -- doesn't realize that the wranglers will just syn it all together.

Agreed, especially if they're coming from Tumblr, which notoriously doesn't. Six of the tags I'm tracking there are essentially synonyms because my damn fandom can't get their act together and arrive at some sort of consensus.

To the one very vocal fan on tumblr: STOP. Just because you shipped them first it doesn't mean that your characterisation is superior. In fact, it's not. It's 90% Out of Character, and your writing is decidedly bad. (For the love of all things good stop telling us exactly what all the characters are thinking. It's dull.
