I completely agree with you, OP! In pretty much all the other areas of the film, Tangled was better, but the songs are only so-so (Mother Knows Best is interesting but not really because of the music but because Gothel is a fascinating villain).

Princess and the Frog, meanwhile, had two songs that can stand with the best of Disney in Almost There and Friends on the Other Side. Those are great songs (and I really enjoy the movie too, though the story really suffers in the middle ... great beginning and end though).
