Not secret: In a group of non-artsy people, I'm generally glad to have the visual design work fall to me. I also draw casually, but haven't been doing so often lately.

Secret: I've been thinking of fanart I'd like to see, and feeling like I should practice drawing just to improve enough to make whatever fanart I'd feel like making. Other things would be great, but fanart would be my main motivation.

Secret because: "Silly fangirl, your cracky!happy!childhood fandom fanart is for kids! "Speaking of kids, loads of them obviously draw better than you and have the convenience of tablets." "Naaaah, you can't feel guilty, you shouldn't feel anything about the risk of someone you know in real life seeing your fanart!"

Actually, drawing porn can be a really good way to practice anatomy and composition. It's challenging getting poses involving two or more people that are physically interacting with each other just right. And it's not like you'd have to show the finished artwork to anyone.

Aww, don't let yourself be put off! Lots of people like "cracky!happy!childhood fandom fanart". Lots of people like fanart full stop. If you practise, you'll get better.

Whatever motivates you to draw can't be bad! And fanart is a great way to practice drawing. Anything that gets you drawing every day is good, drawing every day is the main way to improve (this is silly coming from me since I draw so infrequently)

Go for it. Any practice at all is worthwhile, and if people judge you for it, then let 'em -- and move on. I'm not gonna say the judging doesn't sting from time to time; it does. But it feels pretty fantastic when you decide you're gonna do what makes you happy regardless and that any and all haters can fuck off.

Aaaw OP, that's a fine reason. :) Or maybe you're the negative side of me because I posted a similar secret to a different comm this week XD
It was basically how making a fanart account and drawing loads of different silly fanart/crack pictures HAD MADE ME LIKE ART AGAIN.
Sometimes it's just fun to break loose and it's also helping me improve with my composition, linework, shading, expressions etc etc - but there's none of the pressure to spend hours working on ONE picture because they're just quick silly pictures.

It's such a breath of relief to just draw for silly fanart fun.

I've never thought about anyone IRL somehow finding my fanart, but if they did try to somehow make me feel guilty over a bunch of silly pictures. Well they'd probably get a raise eyebrow and a look of disbelief that they're trying to upset me over a bunch of fun pictures I'm doing. I might roll my eyes and go "really". XD

Who cares if some kids draw better than you. There's ALWAYS ALWAYS going to be someone better than you and sometimes (and more often as you get older like me) they're younger than you. Who gives a fuck. It's not a competition. You can both draw, no-one is stealing skill from anyone else, or time, or viewers or any such shit.

OP, you go out there and you enjoy drawing whatever the fuck you want.
