You can't compare them, they're both amazing as Sapartacus. Watching the prequel series inbetween Blood and Sand and Vengeance actually helped a lot in preparing me for the change.

Thanks, I may try that. I was actually thinking about skipping the prequel till later but if you think it helps, I could very well give it a shot.

Really it's the place where it's best watched because it sets up a good chunk of Vengeance (which assumes you've seen it) including a hugely important character. But also, six episodes without Spartacus in at all helps get you in the right mindset and makes the transition between actors easier, I think.

I never had a problem with shifting between the actors (knowing it was because Andy Whitfield HAD to drop out due to being so sick made it a non-issue) but having the prequel between the first two seasons REALLY did give a good cushion of time to transition.
