Not quite. My mom has this super-idealized view of the 1950s that bears little resemblance to reality beyond her immediate sphere of experience (soda fountains, Elvis, etc.) and in her world blacks were quiet, commies didn't exist in America, the rest of the world didn't matter and everyone had money.
