Humans migrate to planet full of sapient beings and conquer them; referring to said beings as "pets", dressing them up, forcing them to fight each other, and occasionally forcing them to undergo bodily mutations for the humans' aesthetic pleasure. The pets may be abandoned or traded and sold to other humans, who value rarer species with rarer colorations. Many pets are simply left dying, as their owners use all their money to buy valuables and gain status among their peers instead of feeding the creatures in their care. But even the humans on this planet don't live a carefree life - there is no freedom of speech, and you never know when you're being monitored. If a human is caught talking about something forbidden, they and their pets will be transformed into ice sculptures and never be able to interact with the world again.

Neopets! Ah, the good old days.
