Honestly, I always assumed this had less to do the with the consumers and more to do with how society views porn actors - and how it'd view them even worse if they said something different.

Not to mention the industry's reaction if they said "This is literally the only job I can get to pay the bills. I don't want to be here." "I'm in college and broke" implies that at least there's some choice and the actors could easily walk away if they aren't into it...but it's not usually that easy, depending on the person's exact circumstances [and that's why there's a group started by a former industry actor to help other's get out of that business.]

Note: Not saying that all adult actors don't like their job - but from what I've heard a large number of them don't, and don't actually realize what it's like working there until it's too late to get out easily.
