I don't really see how following orders given by a superior establishes any particular level of trust? And nothing at all was established about Hawkeye's history in the filmverse, so for all we know he trusts people freely.

I don't care what people ship, but the sheer popularity of Clint/Coulson is baffling to me. Even when they're not paired it's taken as practically canon that they were extremely close friends. All the reasons people give for shipping it could easily be applied to shipping either one with Fury or Hill and any other SHIELD agent but you hardly ever see those.
