It felt like a gimmick to me too; I'm so tired of guy-gal partner crime dramas where everyone knows the will-they-or-won't-they will be what it ultimately ends up being about. I haven't bothered with Elementary or Bones or the like because of that. I put up with it in Fringe and the X-Files because the stories were supernatural/sci-fi awesomeness (for the first few years, at least) and X-Files didn't dwell on it that much. But with just normal whodoneits? No thanks. I don't care enough to go looking, but if Elementary isn't doing that and keeps not doing that, then kudos. But I'm not holding my breath for Hollywood to give up that formula yet, no matter how tired it is. So I didn't feel it was worth it to start watching a show I don't have much time for anyway, then wind up disgusted and disappointed yet again. But for the people who like it, enjoy.

I enjoy Bones for the simple fact that the quirky, interesting character is the female (not so for shows like Perception, Castle, The Mentalist, all shows I also enjoy but less so). Oddly enough, the same could be said for Elementary. Sherlock Holmes is obviously the star of whatever incarnation he's in, however in Elementary I feel like I've seen him so many times that I'm far more interested in what Watson has to say. Like I get it, you're a genius, you're British, you don't date, you were/are addicted to drugs, whatever! Although the name Joan Watson still makes me giggle. :P Wow, I'm rambling. Time for bed!

I used to watch Bones, but then everything went product placement/baby rabies and I just couldn't anymore. It's gotten so insipid.

Yeah, any time they try to "normalize" Bones by making her like and eventually have kids. Ugh.
